Demographic Data Reporting
While Statistics Canada and many market intermediaries provide extensive reporting about the “grey wave” in general, we noticed a lack of focused data that related seniors’ housing, family status and affordability attributes in a way that would assist in project location and market strategy decisions. We developed a customized database with Stats Can’s in-house consulting team, from which our licensing agreement permits us to process reports for specific market trading areas within BC and Alberta. Our database allows us to break down each age range within the standard population statistics into the following detailed categories:

Number of home-owners and the values of their homes;

Number of renters;

Separate genders and total of male and female;

Number living alone and number living in family groupings; and

Combined family or individual income.
This powerful planning tool has been used by for-profit developers, non-profit operators and government planning agencies, to assess the true depth of their markets for innovative seniors’ housing.
